Interictal Spikes
Interictal Spikes are short, sudden electrographic discharges that precede the onset of a seizure. It is thought that these discharges, in addition to the seizure, disrupt cognition, memory, and learning in the hippocampus. In the lab, we are studying how interictal spike detecting neuromodulation can mitigate not only the occurence of seizure but also the disruption of cognitive functions.
